Mini sprint on undo in Calligra Words

Monday, 20 February 2012
I'm at PierreSt's house in Munich for a minisprint trying to fix the undo system in Calligra Words. I arrived Sunday evening, and we started immediately discussing how we would solve the issues we are facing. Luckily we seem to have the same idea and understanding of the issues. Read More

Calligra Words and the road to release

Thursday, 16 February 2012
The Calligra Suite recently released the 7th beta, and mostly because Calligra Words is still not ready. Building a new application from scratch takes time. Until around October the focus was on writing a new text layout system that could provide the rich text support that any user demands these days. We were not able to reuse the code from KOffice as it was simply not up to the job. So this took a lot of effort. Read More

Calligra Words is not a fork of KWord

Thursday, 16 February 2012
Pretty often I hear people say that Calligra Words is a fork of KWord. As a maintainer I tell you this not true. Sure we have ripped about 20% of the code from KWord but even that has been dismantled and reassemble in a new way. Read More

This week is feature freeze in Ubuntu land and the Kubuntu community have been working hard to get in as many as possible before the deadline. Telepathy-KDE is working nicely. PerlQt4 - A history

Sunday, 12 February 2012
I started my first job out of college in July 2007, at a company in the entertainment industry. I majored in animation in school, and at the time was still convinced I'd like to get into a professional animation position, so this was a great entry level job for me. Although, the position had nothing to do with animation. I was in charge of managing the company's disk and render resources, making sure that we got what we needed out of the render queue each night, and making sure that our disks stayed clean enough that people could keep working. Kubuntu Status

Tuesday, 7 February 2012
From my kubuntu-devel posting. See also Jason's posting. Today I bring the disappointing news that Canonical will no longer be funding my work on Kubuntu after 12.04. Canonical wants to treat Kubuntu in the same way as the other community flavors such as Edubuntu, Lubuntu, and Xubuntu, and support the projects with infrastructure. This is a big challenge to Kubuntu of course and KDE as well. Read More
