Lots of Work (but not the kind I had hoped)

Sunday, 11 September 2005
I managed to get a lot of work done today, but not the kind I was aiming for. Things are still insane here at my job in DC so instead of the KDE Usability work I was planning on getting done (sorry Jan, maybe Monday) I get to deal with more crap updates and fight the battles which were usually reserved for the middle of the week (FYI: Just because it VALIDATES for §508 Accessibility it does not mean it is accessible!). Qt Crypto Architecture for KDE4?

Sunday, 11 September 2005
One of the things I'd hoped to do at aKademy was to get some discussion going about using QCA in Qt4. Unfortunately I had a cold, and spent much too much time sleeping and feeling unmotivated instead. So I thought I'd try to kick off some discussion about it now. I'm also going to post this to kde-core-devel, and that is where the discussion should take place. Read More

Google Fight Methodology

Saturday, 10 September 2005
First, it was just for shits and giggles folks. Don't take it so seriously ;) That said, quite a few folks wonder why I set 'restrict=linux' and not 'restrict=kde' or some such thing. Well, the answer is quite simple... If you'd click through to the parameters explanation link that I posted in the methodology section you'd see that Google has only four topic restrictions: US Government, Linux, Macintosh and FreeBSD ;) There is no KDE restriction. The week after THE week

Saturday, 10 September 2005
This week has been quite tiring. First, my boss didn't allow me to take Monday as a personal free day in order to clear up the things we left from the akademy at the university. The Monday started with a couple of "pressure" meetings with by boss (just him and me) explaining me why I should work harder than ever and blah blah. So I've only been able to clear up things from the akademy after work, on afternoon/evenings. Read More

/home sweet /home

I left Malaga last friday, so I missed the beach party :( The reason why I didn't blog before is because between the 02/09 and the 06/09 I didn't have any net access because I was in Switzerland to see my mother and some friends. I must say I had a lot of fun there, especialy at the vinea ( www.vinea.ch ) where I paid 30 CHF ( I let you make the conversions ) to spend a complete day sampling swiss wine ... I discovered a lot of wonderfull wine there too bad they didn't have a big enough production to export some of them to Canada :( Read More

KDE Google Fight!

Friday, 9 September 2005
I was playing with googlefight today when it occurred to me to run a few KDE names through the gauntlet... Amused, I decided to use Google's web API to run the list of kde-ev member names and produce the first KDE-Google-Fight-Royal-Rumble :=) Read More

Pedestrian Lights

Thursday, 8 September 2005
[image:1424 align=center width=300 class=showonplanet] Some of you may have spotted the funny pedestrian lights in Malaga: When jumping to 'Go!', the small green man starts to walk and a countdown tells the pedestrian how much time is left to cross the road. When counting 8 seconds, the man starts to hurry: He runs to get to the other side of the street :) Read More

Application scripting: AmigaOS & KDE

Wednesday, 7 September 2005
Malaga has naturally fired supertankers worth of discussion about what we want to do for KDE 4. I want to add some more fuel, this time about application scripting and bindings. :-) Read More

Back in Fuerth

Wednesday, 7 September 2005
I don't know about other cities, but for Nuernberg/Fuerth the definite sign for being home is entering the metro and the driver saying "Pleahz schteb bek" (trying to mimik franconian accent in English isn't really easy :) as the train leaves the stations. I know several people (including my mother) that insist on taking the metro if they are around just for that to happen. And just today I was in a train where the driver tried to speak plain german, but then again in the tone of a city guide. Very nice touch for those getting up early actually :) Read More
