hmm It looks like it will soon be a regular column ;) No it's not about the palm "crappy" api but on SCO ... those stupids A**holes just made me lost a really big contract (and probably a very fun one todo ... well after wrestling with palm anything is fun ... even listening his brother-in-law monologue on philosophy and social politcs .... errr maybe not) Well now I'm pissed off andI don't know if I will have enough money for Nove Hrady (for the trip it's ok) it's after that I'm not sure.

Geiseri

Okay so I couldn't sleep last night, so I spent the night playing with dcop python and found that dcop signals where missing. Needless to say I added them.
cvs:[kdebindings/dcoppython/test/signal.py|This] short example script shows off the happy new functions in action.

Jabber Blog Bot Finished
Unknow
|
I created a Jabber blog bot today which you can use to post diary entries to this blog via your favorite Jabber client.
It's a PHP script and it actually seems to work, this message here has been posted using the bot. I'll try to leave it running overnight and if it behaves, I'll look for a server that will be able to run the script 24/7 so everybody can use it.

Python + DCOP = Cheap Public Relations
Geiseri
|
So i was mucking with dcop some tonight and playing with the new python bindings. The new bindings are much faster and are self contained so you can use them from PyGTK or PyQt. So I was hacking some and came up with a trival app that I was able to drag and drop almost directly from KDCOP.

So yes, I'm busy, but still I managed to get some time for the Krecipes development. Things seem to go fine, and I expect a release in 2 weeks may be (cross fingers).

Kopete 0.7 released
Unknow
|
Woohoo the site is back! Good time to announce Kopete 0.7 is out of the door, even though that's probably old news for most. Except for a few upgrade issues and an ICQ password problem, the majority of things seems to be stable. However, not a very long time has passed yet and I am putting this in relation to the previous releases. :)

KNode in Kontact
Sunday, I woke up, there was nothing on tv, I was bored. I sat down and did something that had to be done and no one was really ready to do. KNode in Kontact. KNode definitely wasn't ready for that kind of use. It took me most of the day. About ~5000 lines of code :( A rather huge patch, which hopefully someone will feel like double checking before I'll commit it. I also went to see Tomb Raider 2 with my brother and a friend of mine and got the ".NET Framework Security" book. In any way, hopefully someone out there will enjoy using KNode from Kontact. Not that the last two relate in any way to KNode or Kontact, but I felt like adding it ;)

KConfEdit, KMail and OSCAR
I finally committed to CVS the new OSCAR protocol implementation. It uses libfaim from Gaim. Gaim developers have been very responsive so far, they applied some things I've sent them and were patiently answering my questions. I decided to rework buddy handling so things are in a state of flux right now. Also there's no documentation whatsoever, I'll write it once I'm happy with the api. After looking at Cornelius' KPrefs, I started working on KConfEdit again, which is going to become the KDE GUI config editor. I'm abstracting parsing at the moment. I've sat down and tried to come up with things a tool like this would need and now I'll be reworking internals to achieve those goals. So KConfEdit should:

Things are coming along nicely

I managed to get a first pure-KJSEmbed application working last night. It's only a basic text editor, but it creates its own KMainWindow and has acess to the action collection. Combined with the signal/JS function code I added recently I think we're almost at the point where KJSEmbed can be used to create real applications rather than just simple wizards etc.
