Malaga Day 0
Beineri

My KDE related activities, besides visiting the local usability meetings, increased over the last days again (finally implemented the feature to open blocked popup-windows within Konqueror). With the contract for my job starting next month signed, I can now be sure it will stay at a high level.

Malaga Day 1

For most people day one will be the first day of the user conference, for me and the e.V. members it is Friday. As previously written I didn't sleep well last night, not much more than 3 hours. Went to the breakfast area where the interesting game started to order your drink (water, orange juice or coffee) and what you want to have on your bread (tomato or jelly) because the waitress doesn't speak any word English and most of us no word Spanish. If you want to eat more you have to pay (and succeed to order it).

So I am in Spain/Malaga. First, I would like to thank HnZeKtO for picking me up from the airport. My plane was 40 minutes late (you quite get used to that when flying with BA), before that spent 4h at the Gatwick airport. The have no free wifi @#$^#@$%^!#$^#$&$#. Weather is great, ppl friendly, although usually don't speak English at all, or rather poor. Whether woman are hot, is still to be found. Truth is, every one is walking here half naked. Which is great :-) Makes me sweat even more. For curious loozers that couldn't get their arses up here, here are some photos (I will update it as it will grow) - http://gj.pointblue.com.pl/akademy2005/ .

It still surprises me, after 10 years (re: KDEPrint junior job)
After posting a very short announce about the available KDEPrint junior job 5 days ago, I received no less than 5 offers to help from Andre Gemuend, James McArthur, Arnould Brice, Alfredo Cerutti and Steve Starr. I even received three distinct sets of replacement screenshots.

paper prototyping for fun and profit

A few weeks ago, we did a session on [w:paper prototyping|paper prototyping]* at the Berlin Open Software Usability meeting. Sven was currently implementing a new PDF import dialog for the GIMP, so we chose it for our exercise. In his blog, he describes the procedure and confronts the results of our prototyping with the current dialog. Antenna was our testperson and took some nice pics.

Ho ho ho now I have a wattmeter
I recently moved into my new house, which also means that I have to pay for electricity directly. Wanting to do know how much power things are really using in the computer room, I went out and bought a wattmeter. It measure power use at the wall. I thought that other people might be interested in seeing some "real world" measured values.
