Accessing your business contacts

Companies often store their customer information in databases managed by customer relation management tools.

SugarCRM is one such popular (and open source) system, built on the extremly wide spread AMP stack (Apache HTTP, MySQL, PHP). Therefore its main user interface is web based, i.e. accessible through standard web browsers and thus also relatively platform independent.

KDEPIM 4.6 Beta5

Today KDEPIM 4.6 Beta5 is tagged and released.

Once the mirrors catch-up you should find the source code in ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/unstable/kdepim/4.5.95.

Also, I know some distros will be providing their users access to this new release for your testing pleasure.

Here's a partial the list of bugs we've fixed in the past few months since the last beta (thanks Christophe):

KDEPIM 4.6 Beta3

Today KDEPIM 4.6 Beta3 is tagged and released.

This is the first release in our departure from the normal KDE SC 4.6 cycle, but you should be able to build against kdelibs and kdepimlibs from either the beta2 or the upcoming first release candidate UPDATE: building against the KDE SC 4.6RC1 kdepimlibs is required -- which should be available soon.

Note that it does require the 1.4.90 Akonadi server which was just released yesterday.

KDEPIM 4.5 is Dead -- Here's to KDEPIM 4.6

Well, the ramp-up for KDE SC 4.6 has begun now, with soft freezes taking effect yesterday and the first beta due in about 1 week.

So... we have decided that there is no point to putting any more effort into the long-awaited KDEPIM 4.5.

99.9% of the KDEPIM team's effort will go into the 4.6 release.
0.1% effort remains for a probable KDEPIM 4.4.8 at the end of this month.

KDEPIM 4.4.7 Preparations

Bug fixes are still coming into the KDEPIM 4.4 branch, so I'm planning to make a 4.4.7 release.

Tagging in a week or two -- current estimate is 21 October.

Just keep this in mind and feel free to continue committing bug fixes (no new i18n strings and no new features) in the 4.4 kdepim branch.

Openchange goes to Redmond, and a shout out to Inverse / SoGo

Julien and I met up in Redmond last week, just before the Exchange Open Specifications event at Microsoft. It was a productive time, where we did some serious planning and a little coding, and learned quite a lot more about the protocols from some of the main developers of Exchange and Outlook. Thanks to Microsoft for hosting it.
