KDE4 compiles

Whoa... for the first time KDE4 /trunk/qt-copy, kdelibs4_snapshot, and kdebase all compiled without errors. Thats frightening... :-) now to test if it is usable at all... ;-)

I Blog Too

Finally got around to fixing some issue with Konsole with the latest kdelibs4_snapshot. The menus work and you can create multiple sessions/tabs again. The actual terminal widget still needs some TLC.

KDE test scripts report #2

For those that use KDE Automated Test Report located at http://kde.icefox.net/tests/, I have created a new script that generates a different report.

It is a Ruby script, playground/base/kdetestscripts/create_module_reports.rb, that displays every file and the errors/warnings for that file on a per module basis (kdelibs, kdebase, etc).

KDE4

I finally gave up on getting qt-copy from /work/kde4 to compile. I ended up editing Gentoo's 4.0.0 ebuild so that it installs into /usr/qt/4. Unlike the 3.x ebuilds, they decided to be FHS 'correct' and not use /usr/qt/4. This makes having both Qt3 and Qt4 installed at the same time problematic. Anyway, the edited ebuild is on my site.

Then I get to kdelibs. I thought of switching from /trunk but I get the dreaded and extremely unhelpful error message: svn: Cannot replace a directory from within

And on dialup I don't care to do a straight checkout.

kdemail.net mail

So a while ago, I stopped getting copies of my mails to kde-devel and kde-core-devel. Also I no longer get emails from bugs.kde.org when I edit a bug. I have the option check on both bugs and the ml to send copies of my mails.

Rather annoying as it took me a while to figure out why I didn't see my emails to the the -devel ml. Not getting the emails from bugs is worse as it makes sorting out the bugs for Konsole harder....

KDE test reports

Since I still can't get kde4/qt-copy to compile I decided to look at creating some new scripts for icefox's KDE Automated Test Report (http://www.icefox.net/kde/tests/report.html).

I've found the tests to be an easy way to fix simple bugs.

Anyway, I create emptykddebug, uniquekddebug and checksemicolons. You should see the first two in the morning run. The last script creates too many false positives as of yet.

I also went through and added an empty line after each warning; this should help with the visual grouping.

Houses and Konsole tab colors

Well, I put an offer on a house today... rather nervous. I expect a counter-offer tomorrow; hopefully by Monday I should know..

In KDE3.5, you will be able to set Konsole's tab text color via the tab menu. I'm thinking about adding the ability to change the color via an ESC code.
I'm not sure if I should mimic the ESC[0;#m and/or create a new code say ESC[0;RRGGBBy. It is rather easy to code.

Tried to create a new branch of konsole today. I couldn't figure out how to do it in svn. Hopefully someone will repond to my post on kde-devel.
