is it Free enough?

We recently had a bit of drama on the kde-edu-devel mailing list. It seems that Debian decided that KStars was not quite Free enough, because some of the images we use are used with permission, and the catalog files are not unambiguously in the public domain. As a result, they were either going to remove KStars altogether, or move it to non-free.

KSpell cont.

I don't like the fact that I have to be coming up with topics for those entries. I think I'll just start putting dates for them. People who want to know what I'm doing will find them anyway.
I haven't done anything too interesting today. Worked on KSpell a little more. Cleaned it up a little and closed two bugs, from which the more interesting is that you can now check HTML/SGML/XML and Tex/LaTeX documents with KSpell and it will automatically skip the tags/commands and it will spell check only the actual contents. It should make spellchecking in such applications as Quanta and KTextMaker/Kile a lot more friendly.

kstars status

For my first post, I thought I would give a short heads up on recent activity in KStars.

Jasem Mutlaq recently added telescope control to KStars, which is just fantastic. Definitely has been one of our most-requested features.

This is a test post from KBlog

This is a test post from KBlog. If it works it will be ready for CVS. Currently there are issues with the post manager. The selection dialogs need some refinement.

There are also some big UI issues, and some missing code, but I think there is enough here that other developers will want to get a start.

Who is paid to hack Kde?

I am planning on doing a feature which will list all the Kde developers who are paid by someone.

Here is an incomplete list.

Waldo Bastian by Suse
Zack Rusin by Automatix ( there was someone else too)

More silly bug fixes

Well notices now highlight the nick in their randomly picked colours.

reved the version to 1.3.8 to allow for the per server prefs. That's it for ksirc today, it's too hot out.

KBlog getting ready...

Well i have hacked the greater part of the day on cleaning up the kblog code. The backend is now completely generic and im now switching the main code over to use that code. Once that is done i can throw that in cvs.

what goes through my mind

Well, i am working on gadu for few weeks now.
But there was not even single bug reported during this time (on bugs.kde.org).
Maybe i should consider entering few bugs my self :->

Introducing myself

Wow, what a great idea! I can only say thanks for such a site - I definitely hope it will start to be a good resource for any user seeking closer contact to the members of the KDE team.

So, for a first post, I'd like to introduce myself. My main focus is Kopete. For well over a year now I've been working on the Jabber plugin, occasionally I also dive into libkopete, the core code behind the UI that ties the protocol plugins together. I must say that it's a very rewarding task, Kopete and KDE in general are the first projects that have fascinated me over a longer period of time and that still feel just as cool as on the very first day.

KStringHandler::tagURLs

Trying to fix http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60522 isn't a problem in kSirc. It's a generic problem in KStringHandler::tagURLs.

URL entries that are of the form http://url/~ or end in any none-word or none-number entry gets poorly highlighted.
