kdenonbeta

OK... So last night I browse around some CVS posts in the nonbeta, and only after 3 hours of being there and 10 minutes after finding & installing I find myself fixing the new module.

...now if I c

Assigning an action to a folder

So I'm trying to figure out how to add a menu to a single folder, kinda like the trashcan when it hits me. We have this .directory file in there. I wonder how hard it would be to add a service menu to that folder via the .directory file? We already use that file for icons...

Look mom, my very own blog -- filled with my boring KDE TODO list!

Well, I'm looking for the "stuff that nobody cares about" category and not finding it, so "development" shall be the lucky winner in this contest.

So, stuff that I'm up to lately:

Well, first, I'm playing tour guide again with my 4th visitor of the summer. This cuts into coding time pretty significantly, but I'm planning on hiding in my bedroom for the next few weeks and gnawing away at my TODO list.

Developing in a community

so the other night i got sucked into joining #hci on openprojects.net. it was all good and fun for a while with some rather interesting discussion going on. and then someone brought up the many issues surrounding the delivery of binary packages on Free Software OSes and all went to hell in a hand basket.

Reverse video code?

Finally fixed ksirc's handling of effects characters. For bold, underline and reverse it used to use ctrl-b, ctrl-u, ctrl-r. This followed the standard text irc clients.

It causes problems though, so I changed it to *bold* _underline_ and #reverse#. Problem though, I can't find anyone else who does reverse video. Does #reverse# make sense? Does it match with anything else out there.

Doing KDE on the run

gah! too busy these last two weeks... i need to lead a life of luxury so i can nurse my many non-paying but oh-so-enjoyable interests, like KDE. perhaps i'll ask Santa for one this year ;-)

did up a quick UI for Zack's kspell work, based on a mock up by Henrique Pinto with a bit of a twist. still ruminating on whether or not to add a progress bar. yeah, maybe i will.

discussion on kde-usability is actually pretty high on the signal side of the signal/noise scale the last few days. huzzah for that.

Starting a blog

After reading the announcement on the dot, compiling kblog and creating an account, I thought it would be a good idea to start a blog myself. Let's see if anybody reads it...

What I like about www.kdedevelopers.org is that there is a native client (at least there is the start of a native client).

7/22/2003 - I need more time

Why is it that university professors always pile crap loads of work on at the end of the term? *sigh* So yeah, I got lots of homework and projects, and no time to hack. But i'll stop bitching now. :)

7/22/2003

I'm trying to make a habit out of those entries.
I've spent a little time today working on and closing 12384, which by now had 423 votes. Felt good to close it. Also worked on 4202 a little more. I want to have the html capable editor in libkdepim after OLS. Hopefully everyone is going to like it as the editor itself is a kpart plugin. In the beginning kedit, krichtextpart and ktexteditor based will be there. Hopefully before 3.2 I also get a KoText editor part there so that you can edit emails with it. But that's after I'll port KMail and KNode to it, especially that I need to work on html export in KWord a little more.

Krecipes 0.2: Recipes for geeks

I need more testers for this little beast, guys. Or is it that there're no bugs left? :-) Just to let you know, this version includes two delicious recipes from and for geeks. One by Adriaan de Groot, and another one by me. Even developers cook sometimes...
