Introducing KIO S3

The first release of KIO S3 is out!

KIO S3 is a KIO worker that allows you to browse and manage files stored in Amazon S3 and S3-compatible storage services (such as Cloudflare R2, DigitalOcean Spaces, MinIO, and others) directly from Dolphin and other KDE applications.

With KIO S3, you can:

  • Browse buckets and folders
  • Upload and download files
  • Copy, rename, and delete files and folders
  • Create folders inside buckets
  • Connect to multiple S3-compatible services at the same time using named profiles

This KIO worker was initially developed by Elvis Angelaccio, and more recently Nekto Oleg took over. Nekto added many features like multiple profiles support, a System Settings page, ported various parts to the newer and more efficient batch and paginated S3 APIs, and fixed many small papercuts.
