I started to publish on Twitter some days ago to not stay completely silent about the good stuff that is happening with KDE/openSUSE. Most of the time my posts even appear on other people's pages and in Twitter Search. According to the "Find People" function I don't exist though.

    Identi.ca / Laconi.ca

With Twitter being on and off etc., why not use Identi.ca (or any other Laconi.ca provider)?

AFAIK it's very easy to just tell your Identi.ca/Laconi.ca account to forward all of your posts etc. to Twitter as well.

How does introducing an additional potential point of failure increase the reliability? :-) And the reach of identi.ca alone is imo not big.

Identi.ca is to microblogging what Jabber is to IM

On the other hand, you could also *just* use Identi.ca/Laconi.ca and tell your Twitter buddies to make the switch. From what I could gather, Identi.ca is a lot more stable, plus you can choose the Laconi.ca server (or build your own) that fits your needs perfectly.

Personally, I dislike microblogging, but if I'd have to do it, I'd rather use a FOSS and distributed version of it. Just as I prefer Jabber/XMPP over e.g. MSN. Laconi.ca is somewhat to microblogging what Jabber is to IM.

Well, just an idea. If you're happy with Twitter, don't let me stop you :P
