    Howdy KStars fans,

Just a quick note to let you know that we are now in BugKill mode: no more new features for 4.0, just polishing and bugfixes. Here's what KStars looks like these days:

I encourage you to try it out for yourself. It's quite useable; most things now work as they should. Thanks to heroic efforts by James Bowlin, it's now more efficient than kstars 3.5.x in terms of CPU usage, and the new HTMesh architecture should allow us to scale up the number of stars in a future version (thus silencing a frequent complaint by our critics).

Anyway, we could use your help. If you want to help us uncover bugs and misbehaviors, we're organizing our QA efforts here. You can also feel free to report any findings on our mailing list.

    Thanks a lot!

Two sets of + and - buttons, captions under buttons

Looking at the screenshot, one improvement I would suggest is to have only one set of + and - buttons instead of two. Also, the trend in KDE4 apps seems to be to put the text label underneath each button to help users better identify the buttons' functions. Other than that, it looks great!

The two sets of +/- buttons

The two sets of +/- buttons do different things; the right pair used to have up/down arrow icons...I'll try to get those back.

    Stepping buttons

Actually, the buttons I always wanted there are step buttons, that take you one {selected time step} backwards and forwards. With tooltips that tell you the keyboard shortcuts. I always have to dig though the documentation to find those keystrokes. Maybe not for the bug kill phase, but afterwards?
